I loved reading this story. I'm an Italian who went to Taiwan last November fulfilling a dream of a few years before that was halted by the pandemic. I spent two weeks there and I loved all of it! I also went with a purpose, exploring the pizza culture there, and I wrote two web articles about it. Plus an essay here on Substack about their tea and coffee culture from my perspective. I also met other Italian people in love with Taiwan, one also living in Kaohsiung, thanks to him I had a great vision of the city! As far as I could see there's also a good relationship between our country and Taiwan (despite the fact our government doesn't recognize the independent state like many others, to keep China as a trade partner). I'm really proud of this relationship between our two countries, I'm so happy that I finally managed to go there and I will definitely return!

Great guest essay! Btw- the illustrations in the picture book are fun! That’s often me also- especially when I cook red lentils on the stove :)
